Fifth Grade is a year of tremendous growth, especially in mathematics. Students are expected to have their math facts (multiplication & division) mastered when they come into fifth grade. This is essential for mastering the many concepts and skills they will learn this year in the following domains: Operations and Algebraic Thinking, Number and Operations in Base Ten, Fractions, and Measurement and Data.

Students are to apply the following Mathematical Practices in their everyday learning:

1. Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.

2. Reason abstractly and quantitatively.

3. Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.

4. Model with mathematics.

5. Use appropriate tools strategically.

6. Attend to precision.

7. Look for and make use of structure.

8. Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.

Room 10 is currently using Eureka Math engage NY (Module 1) and My Math

Students can receive additional support on line at OJUSD Grade 5 Module Lessons (Topic A. Multiplicative Patterns on the Place Value Chart) and Eureka Math Homework Helper Module 1
